Be Careful What You Say ‘Yes’ to…

So, I was sitting in my office with my boss minding my own business when he asks me what I’m doing on Friday (my day off). Before I can aswer he asks me if I can do him a favor and take this local reporter out on the course to film their segment on local golf courses. I say, “Yeah, sure.” thinking it’s gonna be easy.

He then forwards me an email with all the details and I just about shit my pants when I read it…

Thanks for all of your help with our recent media requests. …… KGMB-9 “Sunrise” morning show is coming to Lanai this Friday to highlight our kama`aina promotion and we would like to work in a golf segment.

Please advise if you (or a member of your team) could do a golf demonstration with reporter Ramsay Wharton …….The segment would be about 3 minutes long and you could discuss the kama`aina golf rate and award winning courses, and show Ramsay a golf tip.”

Meaning, I’m going to be on TV, in a morning show, with viewers. Luckily the segment is going to be taped so they can’t see how many takes it’ll take for me to sink a three foot putt or blast out of the sand. I’m stoked, but I’m pretty nerve wracked at the same time. I’m flipping through the mental rolodex for easy, foolproof tips to show this reporter.

Stay tuned for the outcome…
