Highlights of the week
This has been a pretty eventful first week on the island. So far I have experienced:
- walking through a downpour on the way to get something to eat (it was dry as I left the house)
- swimming in Manele Bay in full commando gear
- seeing John Mayer’s name on the arrivals list of the hotel (never saw him)
- going out to the local bar only to get sandwiched on the danceloor by the other pro and my coworker (I guess the effects of liquor are more potent on the island)
- being punched in the arm by the food and beverage manager at the same bar only to have her introduce herself to me the next day—she says she didn’t remember a thing she did the night before
- working with a tour operator that sent a Japanese interpreter that only knew three words of English, “yes”, “no”, and “cart”
